Arts Council England renews funding for FLAMIN
As part of Arts Council England’s 2018-22 National Portfolio, Film London has been awarded £1.3m in funding for its work with artist filmmakers. The four-year partnership ensures continued delivery of FLAMIN (Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network), which has supported, commissioned, developed the likes of Laure Prouvost, Ben Rivers, Elizabeth Price, Mark Leckey, Rachel Maclean and Sarah Tuner since being established as an Arts Council NPO in 2005.
The award will enable FLAMIN to continue to deliver key schemes and programmes, including FLAMIN Productions, Film London’s flagship commissioning scheme for mid-career artists, and the Film London Jarman Award, which recognises and supports innovative UK-based artists working with moving image.
It will also allow FLAMIN to develop new projects that respond to the changing landscape of artists’ moving image, offering increased opportunities for artists and audiences across the country through award schemes, training, touring programmes and partnerships.
Adrian Wootton OBE, Chief Executive of Film London and the British Film Commission, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that our Arts Council England funding has been confirmed for the next four years. The UK boasts a phenomenal wealth of talented artist filmmakers, and FLAMIN is absolutely committed to supporting them, from training, support and production funding through to spotlighting rising stars with the annual Jarman Award. The filmmakers we work with innovate, blur boundaries, challenge perceptions and force us to think about the world in different ways – this is all vital work, and we owe ACE a huge debt of thanks for their ongoing support.”
