Icon Film Distribution today announces the addition of cult classic titles to its updated edition of the Icon Film Channel (IFC) app.

After the success of the streaming service’s exclusive launch last year on Amazon Prime, the new standalone IFC app will provide yet more critically acclaimed and award-winning films that users can now watch anywhere, any time.

New additions to Icon’s curated library are available to stream on IFC now. A selection of these spectacular films includes Joel Schumacher’s 90’s cult-hit FLATLINERS, starring Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts and Kevin Bacon; neo-noir thriller JAGGED EDGE led by Glenn Close and Jeff Bridges; Best Picture nominee THE PRINCE OF TIDES; the ultra-violent U-TURN from veteran director Oliver Stone; and Terry Gilliam’s cult-classic THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAUSEN, featuring John Neville, Eric Idle and Uma Thurman.

Further high-profile additions to the Icon Film Channel collection include Martin Scorsese’s THE AGE OF INNOCENCE, the unforgettable period drama starring Academy Award Winner Daniel Day-Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Winona Ryder; medieval action-horror BLACK DEATH with Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne, and Game of Thrones stars Sean Bean and Carice Van Houten; and Natalie Portman’s directorial debut A TALE OF LOVE AND DARKNESS.

The channel launched with hundreds of titles from Icon’s extensive catalogue, which includes modern masterpiece DRIVE, starring Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan; Mel Gibson’s triple Academy Award nominated epics, APOCALYPTO and PASSION OF THE CHRIST; historical biopic MALCOLM X, directed by Spike Lee and starring Denzel Washington; Dan Stevens introducing himself to the world as the next leading man in THE GUEST; sci-fi thriller THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT; and hard-hitting Oscar nominated drama HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG, with outstanding performances from Ben Kingsley and Jennifer Connelly.

IFC will offer even more films from a range of genres to suit every taste, with comedies such as British classic KEVIN AND PERRY GO LARGE, starring the hilarious Harry Enfield and Kathy Burke, and Robert Altman’s brilliant GOSFORD PARK, with an unmatched ensemble cast featuring Dame Maggie Smith, Stephen Fry and Kristin Scott Thomas. New to the IFC app is CHRISTINE, the supernatural horror directed by the legendary John Carpenter, and if that’s not quite enough horror for you there is always the critically acclaimed, female-led psychological horror, THE BABADOOK.

Additional titles will be added to the service each month, along with new UK Premieres that will be entirely exclusive to the IFC app. Individual film rentals will also be offered to non-subscribers.

IFC app is available in UK and Ireland on desktop, mobile browsers, and major platforms including Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Xbox One, iOS and Android. Subscriptions start at £4.99 a month or £39.99 annually with a 30-day free trial. Rent selected films individually from £2.99.

Icon Film Distribution’s parent company is KFilm, which also includes one of the UK’s leading independent distribution company’s Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment, and global sales agency, Kaleidoscope Film Distribution.

Adam Sergeant, Chief Operating Officer at KFilm said: “We are thrilled to be launching IFC as a standalone app. It is the next evolution of a film brand renowned for its quality and independent spirit, combining Icon’s extensive catalogue of classic and award favourites, home-grown titles, acclaimed directors and leading ladies and gentlemen, with both new to service and often fully exclusive to IFC only, content. It’s the next step in our ongoing mission to provide a truly 24/7 viewing experience for our customers.”
