Keeran Anwar Blessie’s BAFTA longlisted LGBT British short A FOX IN THE NIGHT celebrates black joy
A FOX IN THE NIGHT is director Keeran Anwar Blessie’s directorial debut. This is a beautiful story set in south London and shares an unlikely meeting of two young black men. This phenomenal short film has been longlisted for a BAFTA.
A South London story in which opposites attract, appearances deceive and bravery reaps rewards.
Keeran Anwar Blessie graduated from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2018. Excited by telling stories with levity and a fresh perspective that led Keeran to write and direct his debut short film, A FOX IN THE NIGHT. It premiered at the BFI Flare Film Festival 2022, and at OUTFEST 2022 and has been longlisted for a 2023 BAFTA.
Benjamin Jacob Smith is a junior producer at The National Theatre and Director of RAW Inventive ltd. Ben has produced works that have been selected at Sundance, IDFA and London Film Festival. He has focused his attention on producing high-quality and impactful stories.
RAW Inventive is forward-thinking and imaginative in its approach to production. Currently developing a slate of short and long-form work for the screen.
Their collaboration has led to the film being nominated for a BIFA, Critics Circle Award and the Iris Prize.
The intimate cinematography was created by Samira Oberberg who is based in London. With a compelling performance from Korey Ryan.
This impeccable short has been longlisted for a 2023 BAFTA.
