Sony Pictures has acquired rights to Brett Haley’s Hearts Beat Loud

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) has acquired all international rights to Brett Haley’s Hearts Beat Loud following the special sneak peek volunteer screening in Sundance. The film, starring Nick Offerman and Kiersey Clemons, played through the roof to a packed screening last night, and will make its world premiere to the public on Friday, January 26th. In addition, Offerman and Clemons will perform the title song from the film at the Sundance Awards Ceremony on Saturday, January 27th.

The deal excludes North American rights and was negotiated on behalf of the filmmakers by Endeavor Content. SPWA’s Michael Helfand, Joe Matukewicz and Jon Freedberg negotiated the deal for Sony.

Written by Haley and Marc Bash, Hearts Beat Loud is the story of a one-time musician (Offerman) who owns a struggling record store in Red Hook, Brooklyn, forms an unlikely band with his daughter (Clemons) the summer before she is set to leave for college. The film co-stars Ted Danson, Sasha Lane, Blythe Danner and Toni Collette, with original music by Keegan DeWitt. Houston King, Sam Bisbee and Sam Slater produced the film for Houston King Productions, Park Pictures and Burn Later Productions respectively.
