A Birmingham-based actor, director and choreographer who seamlessly integrates different languages, cultures and art forms is getting set to tour his latest work thanks to Arts Council support.

Shane Shambhu’s Confessions of a Cockney Temple Dancer tour has been awarded a £25,000 National Lottery Project Grant and will run from August 2018 through to April 2019.

In his solo show, Shane combines Indian dance and comedy to lead audiences on a revealing journey through his life; from unlikely dance student to ‘rude boy’ to international performer. The piece explores his life, growing up in East London and learning and performing Indian dance around the UK and Shane plays with the ways in which race, language, identity and cultures have defined him.
