The founder of the British Urban Film Festival, Emmanuel Anyiam-Osigwe has been announced as one of the British Film Institute’s guest delegate speakers at this year’s Nigerian International Film Summit. Anyiam-Osigwe will speaking on 2 panels in Lagos in his capacity as a film producer at BUFF Studios, which released the movie “No Shade” in 2018. Anyiam-Osigwe is currently in post-production on his debut film “Absolutely Marvellous” which profiles heavyweight boxer Joe Joyce and his British-Nigerian blind mother, Marvel Opara.

Earlier this year, the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) invited a delegation of filmmakers from the British Urban Film Festival (founded by Anyiam-Osigwe in 2005) to meet with representatives from the Lagos State government to apply for film funding as part of a wider strategy to form closer ties between Nollywood and creatives from across the diaspora.

Now in it’s 5th year, the Nigerian International Film Summit was founded by Ijeoma Onah, CEO of streaming platform Super TV, to focus on the theatrical distribution of Hollywood films from major studios locally in Nigeria, international distribution for Nollywood films and how to create the needed appeal for international distribution of Nollywood, exploring the current and existing structures for distribution and the investment potentials and opportunities for more screens.

This year’s summit takes place from at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos from 29 August – 1 September.
