Filming for Sick(er), the feature film debut from director Lucy Brydon is now underway. Principal photography began on Monday 30th April, filming on location in London and Essex.

The cast, announced, are Sian Brooke (Good Omens, Sherlock, The Terror, Doctor Foster), Amanda Burton (The Level, Silent Witness, Bronson), Fabienne Piolini-Castle and Nick Blood (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Babylon, The Bletchley Circle).

Stephanie (Brooke) returns home to find her family in the full throes of wedding preparations as her mother Susan (Burton) and partner Annette (Pelka) prepare to marry. Striving to manage her anorexia back in the real world, Stephanie’s real priority is re-connecting with her teenage daughter Pearl (Piolini-Castle). Sick(er) explores the murky, fractured and touching complexities of the mother-daughter-grandmother dynamic in the shadow of Stephanie’s destructive eating disorder.

A first time feature film director, Lucy Brydon is a writer, filmmaker and visual artist. Her novel Shanghai Passenger was published in 2015. Brydon’s short films include The Space In Between and Babe. Her feature screenplay The Boy Who Died Comfortably was shortlisted for the Sundance Institute Writer’s Lab.
