SIGNS OF LIFE for actor Joseph Millson in Directorial Debut with Oscar and Grammy winner Anne Dudley as Producer
MillPotts Productions announces a brand-new feature is set to commence production. The company owned by husband-and-wife team, British actor and writer Joseph Millson and actor/director Sarah-Jane Potts, has seen recent acclaim with its two award-winning short films The Magician and Care and now Joseph Millson writes and makes his feature directorial debut with Signs of Life, the final film in the trilogy.
Following a successful Kickstarter campaign that saw the project beat its original target Signs of Life, will commence filming at the beginning of March 2024 in Lanzarote.
Joseph Millson says “The lead characters from Care and The Magician were the inspiration for the protagonists in Signs of Life. I felt there was still a lot to be said about the current epidemic of heartache and depression, the sheer beauty of life and how these opposites collide. I was inspired to write a feature film that would follow a few days in the future life of the lead character from The Magician, who had been deeply affected by an act of kindness from a stranger. I wanted to see her going forward and passing on an act of kindness of her own. I’m interested in the unexploded bombs of grief and how helping others can help ourselves”.
Millson, who has enjoyed a hugely successful career in film, TV and theatre, including leading roles in Angel Has Fallen, Casino Royale, I Give It a Year, The Last Kingdom, Dragonheart Vengeance and 24 –Live Another Day; and has written a book Work – And Other Four Letter Words, announces his new production is set to commence filming at the end of February. News on schedule and locations to follow.
The company is thrilled to announce an incredible collaboration with Oscar® and Grammy® award-winning composer Anne Dudley. The internationally acclaimed artist signs on as co-composer and as producer, for the first time in her illustrious career.
Dudley who was one of the founding members of Art of Noise, has been writing music for films for more than 20 years and her scores include Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, The Hustle, Mamma Mia, Here We Go Again, American History X and The Crying Game. She has won multiple awards including an Academy-Award® in 1998 for The Full Monty.
Anne Dudley says “I’m thrilled to be connecting again with Joseph who I first met at the Old Vic when we worked on Stephen Fry’s Cinderella. He brings so much energy and passion to this film, his directorial debut, and he has written a wonderful screenplay that is moving, funny and unexpected”.
Respected actor Sarah-Jane Potts (Kinky Boots, Sugar Rush) joins the production as co-producer and takes the lead role as Anne, a mute, struck dumb by a dangerous cycle of depression and grief, who desperately need to get away to find peace and perspective. A trip abroad sees a chance encounter with a stranger played by David Ganly (Moon Knight, Body of Lies). The pair experience a chain of surprising events, which could either challenge and heal them or see both their lives fall apart.
Signs of Life is a heart-stopping drama with a side order of romantic comedy.
