The Baby in the Basket Lands on Shudder as Part of July Horror Line-Up
Shepka Productions and Flickering Myth’s indie horror The Baby in the Basket has been acquired by Shudder to stream as part of the platform’s July line-up, joining a curated slate of cult favourites and iconic genre titles.
Drawing comparisons to classic, Hammer-style British gothic horror and featuring a cast led by Amber Doig-Thorne (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey) alongside veteran British actors Maryam d’Abo (The Living Daylights), Paul Barber (The Full Monty), and Annabelle Lanyon (Legend), the film is set in an isolated convent on a remote Scottish island during World War II, where a newborn baby is discovered in the midst of a storm.
Securing distribution across more than 15 international territories since its premiere in 2025, The Baby in the Basket marks the first completed feature from the ongoing collaboration between Flickering Myth and Shepka Productions, a partnership focused on producing commercially-minded genre films for international audiences.
Spearheaded by producers Nathan Shepka of Shepka Productions and Gary Collinson of Flickering Myth, that collaboration has since expanded into a broader slate of projects, including the suspense thriller Death Among the Pines (streaming now on Tubi and releasing in the UK in September), and the upcoming Robert the Doll franchise reboot Robert Returns, releasing in early 2027 from 4Digital Media. Further announcements are expected as the slate continues to expand.
The Baby in the Basket will premiere on Shudder in the United States on July 20th 2026.
